Just sharing something extremely important that any prospective, new or veteran parent needs to be aware of! The more voices that get involved in bringing the huge public health issue of children having access to the many and various harms of social media into focus, the less it can be ignored. In the UK we are on the verge of a positive change that could really make a difference, if you are concerned then please be part of the change! There's a simple link (in comments) that allows you to take less than 60 seconds to send a letter to your local MP to help drive a decision towards legislation change. My Oct/Nov group getting all Zen in Session 2 last night! 🤰💆‍♀️ Imagine low lighting, soothing relaxation music that is far from plinky plonky, with wafts of calming lavender...Then imagine learning all the skills to get yourself in to very deep relaxation in labour quickly and on-demand! This is a longish one....but such a fantastic story! Sometimes the rate of labour can step up very quickly and take you by surprise, especially when your body has given birth before! That doesn't mean it has to be a panicked, frightening thing or feel like an 'emergency'. It also doesn't mean that you can't still give birth the way you want! It is a typical thing for the delivery suite to recommend you phone an ambulance if birth seems imminent when you phone in as they are likely to be able to attend you faster than the community midwives - it is not a sign that an emergency is happening, just a sensible precaution during a normal life event! Of course, it helps to have birth partners that are clued up, confident and on the same page as you ❤ and to have built an unwavering trust in the process of birth and your own capabilities 💪🙌 It's just so incredible to hear when clients have navigated circumstances that easily could have felt VERY different, and have them instead describe it as 'healing, powerful and empowering'. This fine bunch of expectant parents have left from my March course feeling the 3 E's - Empowered 💥 Equipped 💥and Excited💥 about their upcoming births! What an enormous transformation from the nerves, worries and doubts that were weighing them down when they first stepped in the door 🙌 What's more it was so heart-warming to see that they are also leaving with a ready-made network of new friends to share the all highs & lows of pregnancy & new parenthood with 😍 Loved seeing how they all connected! Would you know how to navigate a significant plot twist in your labour & birth? So many women who come out of birth feeling traumatised by intervention say that it all felt out of their control and felt like everything was just happening to them. So, doesn't it make absolute sense to address how those negative feelings might be avoided in scenarios where intervention is necessary? 🤷‍♀️ It is so important that any birth preparation course you are spending out your hard earned cash for ensures that you leave feeling equipped and confident to handle changes of plan just as positively as your Plan A. Lots of courses state that they cover 'intervention', but do they teach you HOW to adapt, HOW you can realistically apply mindset and relaxation techniques and tools in these different circumstances? My last group of 2024 hearing all about the places they might choose to have their baby! The weeks are flying & this lovely bunch completed their final session with Belinda on Tuesday evening, learning all about the onset and stages of physiological labour, and how to put themselves at every advantage through it all... We wish them all the very best from here with their relaxation practice and birth planning...some of these babies are due quite soon and we're excited to hear the gorgeous news 🥰 As always, support up until birth is included with the course, so Belinda will be on hand for any wobbles, questions or to provide balanced info if any challenges crop up for them along the way...
